How Drive Charge Eat works
Three steps le a planned trip, kple a fair amount le work le between them. This page le describes both: what wòle do, kple what the app le doing while wòle wait the few seconds le a plan.
1. Tell it what wò drive, kple how full wòle
Choose wò car model once kple e le remembered, along le the restaurant chains aɖe wòle like, the minimum number le chargers wòle want le a stop, kple the reserve wòle want le keep. Before each trip wòle set wò current charge — from the phone, or from the CarPlay screen once wòle are already le the car.
2. Enter a destination
Type where wòle are going kple, if wòle want, the stops wòle need le make le the way. The app computes the route, then works out where along it wòle will need energy kple which real places near those points can supply it.
3. Drive it
Start navigation le the phone or le CarPlay. Wòle get turn-by-turn voice guidance, the distance le the next charging stop, the time wòle will arrive, kple the charge wòle will arrive le. Le the stop wòle see what le there le eat kple how many chargers aɖe free where that le published.
What happens le those few seconds
The route le fetched, then candidate stops along it aɖe gathered from several open sources kple merged — the same physical place often appears two or three times under different names, kple the halves le a paired motorway aire must never le merged le each other. Each candidate le then checked for chargers, power kple plug count, kple for what le there le eat. Only then does the energy model choose the sequence le stops aɖe gets wòle there le the least time lost, keeping wò reserve intact.
If something changes le the road
Plans survive contact le reality badly, so the app expects it. Leave the route kple e re-routes; stay off it kple e re-plans the whole trip le where wòle le. Arrive le a stop aɖe reports no free chargers kple e warns wòle out loud kple offers reachable alternatives ahead. Find that the projected charge le arrival le dropped below wò reserve — a headwind, a climb, a heavier right foot — kple e le goes looking for a closer charger instead le leaving wòle le watch the number fall.
What wò need
An iPhone le iOS 17 or later, kple a subscription. CarPlay le supported but not required. A connection le needed le plan kple le read live charger availability; the last computed plan kple cached maps stay usable if wòle lose signal le the way.
